Once upon a time...

In a land far far away, there lived a king and a queen and their four beautiful children... Unfortunately they were way too boring to write about, so you're all stuck with the Dimmock's instead!

We're a bit of a fractured fairytale.I can't promise to update every day...I'm a bit slack like that (shhh), but I'll do my best to keep it up.

And they all lived happily ever after...well that's the plan at least :oP

I've caught up!

Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! I'm actually posting pictures in the same month they were taken! Because I'm awesome like that.

Off we went to try for a canvas worthy shot of all 4 kids together. And I got it!! It'd be the suckiest canvas ever, but they'd all be on it :oP I got some nice ones of them individually though...that pretty much makes up for it.

Gaige... (hard to get a good shot of him, so VERY pleased with these!)

Grayson...

Wyatt...

Saxon went mental everytime he saw the camera. Awesome.

He was all about the Daddy love though...

3 Dimmock boys xx

My honey...

And finally...a shot of the babies together!

Want to see my 'canvas'? Prepare to be amazed...

Oh yeah...Steff thought he'd help them to smile bigger. By showing them his butt. Thanks baby. Very helpful!

Look what I've got...

Ain't he purty??

For many many months (the last 10 years even), Steff has been very firm on the Ragdoll issue. It's pretty much the only thing he's said "no" about and stuck to well...ever really (he has a bit of a problem with the "n" word when it comes to me. Can't put them together in the same sentence. After he reads this, he's going to tell me no just to prove a point, but he knows what I say is true :oP)

Anywho, back to the story...I have wanted a Ragdoll kitten for probably 15ish years. Everytime we walk into a pet store and see them he drags me back out. No amount of pouting, whining and foot stamping has worked (don't laugh...this is a tried and true method lol). He always says something about spending $500 on an animal that can't really be contained or something...I don't know. I'm usually too busy sticking my nose in the air and "hmmph"-ing to take any notice at that point.

Then a few weeks ago, I got a phone call from a good friend (Hey Carla! xx). She'd adopted a 6 mth old purebred ragdoll kitty, and there were some issues between him and her Burmese, Binky. So she offered him to me. Because she loves me! So I begged and pleaded and got the long suffering "Whatever, I don't care" response - which really means "Yes, you can have it, but if anyone asks I'm going to tell them I said NO and you did it anyway". And that's good enough for me :oP

So that's how I became the crazy cat lady. He's a spoiled prima donna who only eats home cooked fresh steamed chicken breast, warm of course, 3 times a day. He thinks he's a sheepdog. He herds me into the kitchen when he's hungry by biting me on the heels. Anyone stupid enough to get between the microwave when his chicken is warming up and the spot on the floor where his bowl goes will get taken out...ask Saxon. He had his toes bitten today for daring to stand between Dexter and his food.

I have also hoovered the floor more in the last month than I have in the last 5 yrs, have had cat hair in my mouth constantly since he's been here, and have swept up enough hair to make at least 5 more cats from scratch.

But I don't care, because isn't he pretty??? :oP

Wyatt...

Little preface...Saxon was 3 in July and still isn't toilet trained (not that we're concerned, either was Wyatt). We mention it pretty often to try and get the idea in his head. So far it's not sticking...

(While changing Saxon's nappy)
Me: Maybe next time you need to do a wee you should do it at the toilet like a big boy. You could sit on the special seat or stand up like Daddy and Wyatt do.

Saxon: Wyatt stands up and wees in the bath all the time.

Wyatt: Saxon I do not! You're lying! Mummy he's lying!

Me: Good...I'm glad that's not true.

Wyatt:
Yeah. Sometimes I sit down in the bath and wee.

Me: ... (This conversation was 20 minutes ago. I still have nothing to say)

Things we did in August...

We took Miss Lilli out to take advantage of the orange trumpet vine being in flower. Except it was freakin DEAD, so we had to improvise! We sneaked (very hard to do carrying a kid, a highchair and a bunch of camera's) into a local school grounds and used the stunning pink bouganvillea on their oval. Shhhhh :oP

Lisa now has this as a 1.5 x 1 metre canvas on her living room wall. It's AMAZING!

I took a photo of my Mummy... (and now she has to be nice to me forever so I don't post the original muahahahahahaha)

I turned 35. I'm not very happy about that. Lucky I'm still pretty :oP

Steff and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary! Look how cute we were! (I didn't take it, obviously!)

And I got flowers...pretty! I took photo's of them with last years anniversary pressie :oP

The boys got snuggly...

And then...not so much!

I think that was about it in August...

Last play at the park with the McKays...

Last month we said goodbye to fellow photographer and awesome friend, Katie. Because she left us. That bitch! No really...we still love her lots (even though she left us!) and miss her and the kids heaps!

Arch...

Saxon...

Lilli...

I love the faces they pull coming down the slide. They can't quite decide if they love it or they're scared to death lol.

We miss you SOOOO much guys! Can't wait to see you back up this way for Ben and Jane's wedding next year xxx

June / July...

Lots of these have already been posted on my other blogs so apologies if you've seen them twice!

Silhouette's with Katie...

Sometime around here Steff went for a ride with friends and found me the most stunning location. Complete with rickety old bridge, dirt roads and plenty of green.

We took Grayson and Wyatt for a test run before our first big family session out there.

And a couple from Lis...

See why I can't ever sack her? If she goes into biz on her own she'll steal all my clients :oP You can also blame Lisa for the ever changing watermarks too...I'm transitioning. Again. See, Lisa started out as my assistant. Bag carrier, prop holder, kid entertainer...you name it, she did it. Except shoot. That was my job. Then about 49 weeks ago she thought that it might be an idea if she learned what I was talking about. She started with my back-up camera and quickly upgraded to her current baby (the D300S). Eventually (like now-ish!) she's going to be too good to just "carry the bag". And with any luck one day my biz will be busy enough for 2 photographers. I think it will. Because we're awesome :o)

Anywho...back to the fun stuff (in no particular order, I might add...)

Chin chop. Don't care :oP

Ah ah ah ah stayin aliiiiivvveee... Lilli rockin out Travolta style!

Ouch!

Awwww...

Wyatt's house...

Isn't he pretty? *sigh*

I also did this...

My first family session, which resulted in my first $2000+ sale. They were awesome, and I'm so incredibly pleased that these lovely people chose me to capture their family.

A little about us...ok, mostly me...

Hey there! I'm guessing that most people who drop by to visit us here already know who we are, but just in case...

My name's Nikki. I'm mum to 4 (yeah, 4...can you believe it? No, me either *shudder*) kids, aged from 16 down to 4. My husband, Steff, is originally from the UK - I stole him away from the cold and the damp to live in Central Queensland, where he must endure almost endless sunshine and blue skies. Somehow he manages ;o)

I started this blog as a way to keep family in England up to date with our comings and goings. And it lets me show off how cute the kids are getting!

A little about me...I'm a professional photographer, I'm obsessive about Buffy the Vampire Slayer, love Harry Potter, Sookie Stackhouse (only book Sookie, not True Blood Sookie. It's an important distinction!), (the 10th) Doctor Who, cupcakes, and Spuffy fanfic (although not necessarily in that order). I'm also an extreme perfectionist with a love of the creative and original, who has a very low tolerance for stupidity. If you ask my husband, he'll tell you I'm a huge snob - I'm really not. I just think I'm better than everyone else :oP (That's a joke, ok? Pretty much).

Oh, and please leave a comment to tell me how fabulous you think I am...it makes me write faster and more often ;o) No really...that part wasn't a joke...
